One of the goals of the conference is to explore potential campaign tools for equity and sustainability.
This is a forum to initiate the workshop on "proposals of political strategy and political measures"
The idea is to develop a common understanding about strategic issues in the context of de-growth, and to begin to develop and collect concrete policy proposals issuing from work of the whole conference.

Dear all, i am going to present the cohousing model at the conference in Paris, which are urban communities booming in the USA (since 1995) and North Europe (since 1975). According to a new research just published a few days ago by the UCL in London, these communities enable to reduce CO2 emissions by 50%. It suggests that energy use can be cut by 50% or more but also points out that these projects can take up to 5 years to develop. This suggests that those involved are extremely committed and that data from such a sample should be used very carefully - they are unlikely to be even remotely average consumers. Also what base-line is used? (what was their per capita CO2 levels before they moved in in comparison to a national average?)

Just send a mail to the person who made the research so that he might answer you before the end fo the week. In any case, human activity in group is more likely to emit less CO2 than individually...and I wouldn’t need a UCL report for that.

Household energy consumption for those living in cohousing and traditional forms of housinig were compared - holding housing, climatic and socio-economic variables constant. CO2 production was then caculated based on the fuel mix. The reference is J, Williams (2008) Predicting an American future for cohousing, Futures Journal 40/3 pp1-19.
